You know, the more I read (and actually play!) 1st edition D&D, the more I want to play Wayfarers. The distinct lack of hit points at higher levels makes powerful PCs into nukes; thus negotiation becomes the better path rather than outright conflict.

Thanks- yeah, that was part of the idea. Too many hp removes the threat of death, which should somewhat drive the game at every stage.

My wife and I are running an original edition game. If I'm going to make a setting for a game honoring the original edition, I may as well know what the heck's going on!
I was introduced into gaming with AD&D 2e. I can only say I much prefer 1st edition's charm; a game that organically created its settings through adventures. Nowadays, it seems the market is focused on pushing pre-packaged settings...
Makes me think: how can I present a setting that respects that tradition?
