Cool As I read the rules now the base to hit for melee and ranged is 0. It is not modified by Agility or Strength. First is this right?

If it is I may house rule that so the base to hit number is equal to the agility bonus or minus then add in skill level. Just seems that someone with high agility has a better chance to hit than someone with a low agility. The work is already done bonuses are in place already in the agility table.

Really enjoy the game good stuff. Going to get the journals 1 and 2 next month in print from Lulu.

Damn. I forgot to reply to that email. Sorry Dave2. I am usually very good about that.

That's right. It's a good point. In fact, we did something similar in playtesting. In an early Wayfarers iteration, Agility modified 'to-hit' rolls. However, we found that this made a high Agility so advantageous, a high score was nearly mandatory.

That said, if you'd think it'd better suit you to do so, definitely go for it. Here's a couple of middle-of-the-road variations that might also work for you:

1. Strength and Agility each provide half the 'to-hit' modifier: 1-3: -2, 4-7: -1, ...14-17: +1, 18-20: +2.
2. Average Strength + Agility, and apply the following modifier: 1: -4, 2-3: -3, 4-5: -2, 6-7: -1, ...14-15: +1, 16-17: +2, 18-19: +3, 20: +4.

As for counting skill level, do you mean adding skill level as a modifier? There is no skill level-based modification of to-hit rolls. -No THAC0 as it were. Dodge is a target number, and to-hit rolls are best viewed as rolls for success. Hope that helps. If you do house rule it be sure to let us know how it works. House ruling is good gaming!

BTW, give us all a shout out in the YOGC Hello Thread!

Like the middle of the road idea. Also meant to say disciplines such as weapon mastery are the way to add bonuses to the to hit number. Dave

Liked the ideas. Have you thought about putting the 2 variants in a Journal? Maybe Journal 3 for example. Dave

Not a bad idea. I'll make a note to do so. Thanks.
