|Hi all, thought I'd provide a few real-world analogies to help ground the newer players to Twylos what it's actually been like in previous games. This builds off the earth-language analogies in the 'Make Yer Characters' thread.
So, extremely roughly speaking, but at least to give you a starting point for imagining culture:
Saethos is north Africa, like the trade cities along the Mediterranean, dating from mid-Renaissance. Mostly humans along the east, the coast, and up to Vussar, but increasing numbers of Sathar- lizard men traders- in Gossar and into the desert, which is their home and native, but fallen, empire.
Vasqueray is 17th-18th century France.
The Vehrlands and the Zhellve are a cross between the midwest and west coast of the States and the German heartland, taken back to around the 16th century.
Tarach is more like the east coast of the States up to the 18th century.
Armech/Irendor is the Roman Empire, modernized to around the 19th century, but ruled by oligarchical merchant clans.
Then take all of that, and blend in David Lynch's vision of Dune, and you basically got it. The Alchemists Guild and the Spacing Guild have a similar sort of flavor.
Of course, this isn't table-top, full-on Twylos. This is DiD. Expect anachronisms. Hope this helps. But if you made it to this site in the first place, you're smart and you'll figure it out as we go.
The GM is your friend.
