We have had a few adventures on ship and am looking into a ship based campaign. Has anyone thought of stats for varoius sizes of ships (toughness, speed etc...)? Looking for ideas that are simple. Don't want them to be cumbersome or complicated rules to bog down gameplay.

Have you looked at Labyrinth Lord and/or Dark Dungeons? Both are free downloads and have simple systems for ships, the stats, siege weapons and ship to ship that would probably work with Wayfarers.

Yeah, sorry guys. I considered going there in the revision, but decided that I wouldn't have something that would be tested well enough.

I'm going to look into those rules too. I'd be curious to see what they've got.

BTW, Rex let us know what you go with.

I looked thru the Dark Dungeons and could not find any ship info but I did get ahold of the Labyrinth Lord pdf. It has a good setup for ships. It may take a little tweeking but I think I will try it.

Oops, must have confused them with each other. It's the LL material I meant. I use the material in LL, it's easy and covers the basics well enough if you are not looking for detailed ship to ship. It's functional.

Also, if you want hardness points, look at another retroclone, Basic Fantasy. Not as much but Chris included those (makes ships a bit tougher).

Glad I could help.

Jimmy is going to place a document in the Resources section I believe I adapted from the Labrynth Lords RPG for Wayfarers. Our group has not had the opportunity to test it yet. Would be glad to get feedback.
