If you haven't stumbled upon it, I encourage you to check out G. Vrill's mixes right here.
You can find it by following the Miscellanea link.
I'm rocking out to the 'Atticus Rex' mix at the moment while I'm working on WGJ2 material. Life is good. _________________ Take a page out of the Unicorn Bible and dance all night by the Light of the Dragon's flame. -Champions of Breakfast |

Despite a massive head injury, Greg continues to kick out great mixes.
However, I think one particular mix was made shortly after the trauma.
I don't know how to describe it but as some sort of infernal R&B vision quest. I just listened to it from beginning to end. I won't kid you, it was not an entirely pleasant experience. And yet, I feel as if I have glimpsed something on the other side. As if Greg's traumatic brain injury has allowed us to peer into a world that is usually off-limits to the rational mind.
If you will, imagine a roller coaster entrance with a sign that reads: "You must have a closed head injury to ride". -Well, today the operator is looking the other way... _________________ Take a page out of the Unicorn Bible and dance all night by the Light of the Dragon's flame. -Champions of Breakfast |

The craziest thing about it was how easy it was to mix. Somehow this just took life over two shortish nights, including time spent downloading and screening tons of CW remixes.
Thanks for the ad Swill... maybe not the most representative of my works, but certainly the most reprehensible. _________________ Magic helps you. |

Oh yeah. And if that's the poison, here's the antidote:

I think the sheer size of the Vrill collection is what blows my mind.
I believe I have all of the available tracks on my laptop at this point.
Over 6GB
44 tracks
2.2 Days
that's a whole bunch of stone cold, booty shakin', block rockin', ear bleeding beats.
Thanks again Vrill _________________ Righteous InDagnation |

Thanks guys.
1991 wasn't that easy actually... a lot of those tracks have remained unused until now because they were too damn hard to mix cleanly before. Live drumming means the drums aren't always synched so well. And somehow, a lot of great new wave and synth pop is either around 70 or 140 bpms, pretty far from the mainstream pop music that comes in between 85-128 bpms.
Let me take a moment to advertise Steve's own stuff... while I'm just a hack mixing other people's stuff, he makes his own music. I'll try to host it on my site and post the link.
In the meantime, I got really into this 5 seconds of banjo in that Carrie Underwood song and did this:

That's pretty amazing, Greg. Going in the itunes library now.
And yeah, sweet original track from Dag:

Greg speaks too highly. I'm still mostly arranging loops, but starting to branch out into actually playing some of the stuff. Some of the instrumentation in that track is me, but I have a long way to go...

Maybe you should say something instead of just breathing on her answering machine. _________________ Take a page out of the Unicorn Bible and dance all night by the Light of the Dragon's flame. -Champions of Breakfast |

Listening to 1991 again this morning... The blend of Heart and Soul and Bangin' the Beat at 19:50 is pure brilliance.
pure.

I was listening to 'Be Mine Valentine' last night. That was a surprise. Nice.
Think I'll go for some 1991. _________________ Take a page out of the Unicorn Bible and dance all night by the Light of the Dragon's flame. -Champions of Breakfast |
