I think that's why they build most dungeons down. Damn, maybe we could get something like 5 levels at once.

Hear my song. People won't you listen now? Sing along.
You don't know what you're missing now.
Any little song that you know
Everything that's small has to grow.
And it has to grow!

Double attack longsword action! 16 for 6! 22 for 7! Ow!

I search Jimmy when this is over.

I doubt it, not with Ref missing. This new guy would just screw us, and then blame Greg for having given us magic items on the first adventure. Of course, he would fail to mention that the NPC ate one of them, but you know....I miss Greg.

The tower is huge and made of stone.

But good luck trying.

That's the funny thing about table-top. You really could just say: I try to burn the tower down, and even though in real life it would never work, be very frustrating, you'd waste a lot of time, maybe hurt yourself in the process, all you do here is roll a d20 or something and you're like hey a 20 I burned it all down what do I get?

The Ref failed you, that's why you get me.

...

Anyway, okay, fighting spiders. Tanner, you take 3 more, Riley, you take 4 more, and you kill them both.

Jimmy Swill had two butcher's knives, a dirty hat, and 200 sr in outstanding debts. Who wants to take them on?

No, you just start a large fire in the bottom floor. You don't want to destroy the tower, you just want to smoke everyone out. They choke to death, or come fumbling down the stairs. Plus, after you have all the items, with nothing but a little smoke damage.

"come on let's head on up."

You burn some more webs and enter into a strange central chamber, still just on the second floor.

Or in Europe, the first floor. It's just like the floor above the ground floor. That's still where you are. You get it.

...

Anyway, you burn some more webs and enter into a strange central chamber. Three Lolth-like spiderwomen are at work here weaving an elaborate tapestry depicting... huh.

It looks like the lot of you guys, trapped in some MC Escher-esque hall of mirrors.

They don't seem that violent or anything, but attack as you wish.

As you stand there, regarding each other, an ettin comes downstairs.

"HEY DERE GRUN... GRUND... HEY THER LADY... U GOTS THAT BLANKIT FOR ME?" The ettin spots you, eyes widen, he runs back upstairs yelling "HEY GUYS! DA PCS ARE GONNA KILL GRUN... I MEAN, THE PCS ARE GONNA KILL DA LADIES!"

Geezus, the tart is full.

I say we feed one to the Ettin.

I push the tart between us and the angry Ettin. Tarticide.

"nah let's just pose them in awkward positions and have a new tapestry made. Ladies get on that."

I start heading upstairs.

Oh, wait....perception.....ah well. I don't think I even noticed that tapestry

Everyone's on summer break. It's not because this module is boring or anything. Gremlins and spiders are exciting.

...

Anyway, up you go.

You see a sign next to the entrance to the floor above.

DA ETTIN CLUB

ETTINZ ONLY

THIS MEANS U

NOT ETTINS NOT ALLOWED
INTO DA ETTIN CLU
B

ALL ETTINZ WELCOM

...

Sure enough, there's an ettin bouncer. He won't let you in. Through the archway, you see a dimly lit library with a few ettins playing skittles.

One of the ettins is Gellan!

Or at least, it's, like the other ettins, two guys smushed together to form a new 'ettin'.

The Gellan part of the ettin sees you and exclaims: "GUYS! Oh thank Kithain! Hey guys you gotta save me! Look what the new DM did to me!"

The other non-Gellan part of the Gellan ettin smacks Gellan in the face.

"Ow!"

"Gellan, Slit that other dudes throat and we're good to save you."

I sit there with my sword and wait, if somebody comes at me I attack them, but I'm playing it cool.

"Seriously WTF? Harold, I got your back."

I hop out of the tart. "Sorry guys, I've been sailing the astral realms with Cyndre trying to figure out the new psionics rules." I pick up Cyndre and shake him "He's on the shores of oblivion for gods' sakes!"

Anyway, I have a cunning plan! Let's go back downstairs and get those spider ladies to weave us a big suit. Then we'll put two guys in it. I think you guys see where I'm going with this. We'll make the disguise seem really natural- lots of dirt, fake warts, doublemint gum, all that.

I talk to the spider maidens, telling them I hear they do custom work (vis a vis the ettin and his "blanket"). I compliment them on their handiwork with the tapestry and ask if I can commission a garment large enough to accomodate two grown men comfortably while still allowing mobility. I ask them what it will cost.

I can help out with the Ettin disguise, because I'm good at disguises.

I mean, I took all of these non-combat skills, so I might as well use them, right? I'm surprisingly sneaky, too.

Huh.

Okay, you head back down. The ettin bouncer has a strangely smug look on his face when you leave.

...

One of the spider maidens agrees to your proposal. "We'll stitch your masques, morsels..." she hisses. "And in exchange, we want the ettin's stewpot."

Apparently the ettins have a magical stewpot that keeps them all fed upstairs.

The spider ladies work quickly, and within a few hours, you've got a brilliant ettin costume made of the finest silk.

Shit. Now I have that Double-Mint song in my head.

Wait, wait! let's make two ettin costumes. That way four of us can get in there!

"I'll get that pot ladies. But we'll need two suits!"

Okay, the second spider maiden will make another costume. But in exchange, you need to bring her a book from the rare books collection downstairs. She'll make the costume first, but you'll owe her the book.

It's a book called Twilight, signed by the author.

You now have two ettin costumes.
